On Oct. 25 CSB volleyball headed to St. Paul to compete against Macalester. CSB won 3-0 and with that win they clinched a berth into the MIAC playoffs.
In the mix for the top of the MIAC is St. Thomas, Augsburg, St. Olaf and CSB.
CSB has had some headline wins beating No. 16 ranked Gustavus in four sets along with a thrilling five set win over St. Olaf on Oct. 20.
First-year Hunter Weiss was named CSB Athlete of the Week on Oct. 23 with a season total of 258 kills.
Defensively, sophomore Haley LaValle leads the team in digs with 382.
CSB has one more MIAC match against Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 28. After that, the team is off to the playoffs which begin on Tuesday, Oct. 31 with the location to be determined.
With a tie against Macalester on Oct. 25, the CSB soccer team has clinched a berth into the MIAC tournament.
Only the top six teams get a shot to compete for the title and right now CSB sits in fifth.
Leading the way for CSB is sophomore goaltender Kendall Koenen who is sixth in the MIAC with 58 saves during the season.
Offensively, CSB leans on junior Jane Koch who has seven assists on the season and is fifth in the MIAC with 52 shots.
First-year Megan Thompson is the leading scorer for CSB with six goals.
Before they head to the MIAC tournament, CSB must finish off their season with a match against Carleton on Saturday, Oct. 28 in St. Joseph. The first game of playoffs is Tuesday, Oct. 31 location to be determined.
SJU soccer held onto the final MIAC playoff spot after a crucial 2-1 victory over No. 18 Macalester in St. Paul on Tuesday.
The Johnnies have a chance to clinch its sixth straight playoff berth on Saturday against Carleton at home. Saturday marks the final day of the regular season.
The match will be a clash of playing styles. There has been 11 goals scored in Carleton’s nine conference games compared to 31 goals in SJU’s conference games.
Carleton has already clinched a playoff spot.
If the Johnnies lose or draw against Carleton, Augsburg can knock SJU out of playoff position with a win later in the afternoon against St. Olaf.
Should SJU make the playoffs, they would play in a MIAC quarterfinal match on Oct. 31, location to be determined.
