On Jan. 25, the Saint Ben’s Senate (SBS) held their first meeting of the spring semester.
“I want to say welcome to our new Senators,” Vice President Evan Lowder said to start off the meeting. “We’re looking forward to working with you.”
Lowder also welcomed the SBS’s new advisor Bob Bell.
President Anna Martin echoed the words of Lowder.
“I want to extend my deepest welcome to all of you. I’m so excited for this semester,” Martin said.
Martin then went on to remind the Senators that they will need to meet with their committees within the week. These meetings will be a chance for Senators to outline their goals for the semester so they can present an update at the next Senate meeting.
New Advisor Bob Bell addressed the Senate during the Advisor’s Report.
“I’m excited to get to know each and every one of you,” Bell said. “I’m excited to be a part of the Senate, learn more about it and hopefully contribute.”
Trustee Andrea Driscoll informed the Senate that, in an effort to be more sustainable, they would be starting to project their meeting agendas onto the screen instead of printing them out.
Next Wednesday, students will have an opportunity to meet with the Senators and have snacks before the meeting. The Senate members hope to have a good student turnout.
The next SBS meeting will take place at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Gorecki 120.
