Dear Editor,
The past few months I have kept my mouth shut as 90′s movie after 90′s movie are re-released into theaters. However, I patiently wait for film creators to release the one movie that really truly matters to the world.
Being a bearded and rather hairy fellow myself, I was pleased to watch the Beast get the gal in “Beauty and the Beast” again, in 3D no less. Seeing men play with their lightsabers in the upcoming release of Star Wars will probably put a smile on my face as well. “Titanic” however, is where I draw the line. Everyone has already seen it 100 times on the television channel TBS. If not, SPOILER: In the end, Jack has gills and actually hooks up with Ariel the Mermaid under the sea.
The movie I want re-released is very dear to me, for I am able to fit its quotes into any life situation I encounter. Growing up, my obsession got so bad that my mother demanded I give up quoting it for Lent from age 10 to age%u2026 Anyway, it is a story of a town divided, about how many feet are in a mile. It is about left and strong sides. If you do not know it by now, transfer to UST and make sure I do not ever see you at the Reef. “Remember The Titans”, it is a masterpiece. For a new generation of Americans to experience its glory, it must be re-released.
Here at CSB/SJU, we live true to the movie’s final line: “We have our disagreements, of course, but before we reach for hate, always, always, we remember the Titans.”
Sincerely,
Joe Kennealy
