Top ten reasons Bennies and Johnnies are thankful this year (as projected by us, the Record variety editors)
.Thanksgiving break: Three days off of our class schedule and fantasy-dream-life that is college.
.Family and friends: Most people we know are fabulous, brilliant, funny or sometimes all three.
.Call of Duty: This one we don’t understand, but were glad to see Johnnies smiling around campus, even though they seem to be wearing sweats to class more often.
.Pinterest: The newest obsession of many-a-Bennie, the photo bulletin board website is sweeping St. Joe. It’s a great alternative to being outside in this chilly weather.
.The weather: Even though now we have a chance to complain, the cold has held off quite a bit more than some years, for which we should remember to be thankful.
6. Gorecki, McGlynns, BoDiddley’s, Gary’s, Sexton and The Ref.: We’re glad to have more than one option around here for food, and nearly all of these places have ice cream.
.Thanksgiving food: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, corn and pie. Need me say more?
.No shave November: Believe it or not, this is a win-win. Johnnies have a wonderful excuse to be lazy this month and keep their faces warm, and when it’s all over Bennies suddenly think a whole bunch of clean-shaven handsome faces have graced campus.
.Empathetic professors: We know sometimes we’re spoiled here at this smaller liberal arts school and we’re very thankful. Getting extensions or excused absences when things come up is a blessing we’ll never forget.
.CSB/SJU: Even when we whine about the little things, we’re pretty grateful to have a central Minnesotan home-away-from-home to do dumb things in with our friends. And gain a college education.
