St. John’s Senate Update

The St. John’s Senate meeting welcomed the new SJS members as well as the new president Kyle Glynn.

Senior Steven Pesavento requested the Senate review changing the auditing process to streamline the funding process for, “less paper work and more focus on actual club activities.” The Senate reminded Pesavento that the clubs which missed the deadline are encouraged to seek spontaneous funding.

After the forum, President Glynn gave a general report about bookkeeping activities. The Senate advisor thanked the senators for their successful planning weekend and reminded the senators that their goals, “are to serve the student body.”

The Minnesota-Chinese Business Opportunity Conference leaders presented their budget objectives and took questions from the senators. The Minnesota-Chinese Business Opportunity Conference has expanded their plans and hoped to coordinate their plans with the Senate. The focus of this year’s conference, planned for the fall, is sustainable business opportunities between the U.S. and China. The board hopes to expand the activities to include other private colleges, thereby pooling resources and sharing responsibility for getting programs together.

The next SJS meeting will be held at 9:20 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, in Sexton 200.
